It's funny, turning twenty feels like getting OLD really quickly, you're suddenly not a teenager anymore and now you have to be a real grown-up. But after awhile of being twenty I realized that it's the most versatile age-decade to be in. One can get away with acting youthful sometimes, and mature at other times. You can drink and smoke and vote (depending on the ages for these things in your country) and the world is your oyster!
Past thirty it seems like you've got to have children if you want an excuse for acting youthful in public, and it's pretty inexcusable to not have a job and not know what you want to do in life. However, I won't be surprised if I hit thirty and am then writing about why thirty-something is the best age.
Miley, how did things go so wrong? |
I would recommend that you live it up and make use of your twenties while you can, but a lot of people seem to have misguided ideas about these perks. For example Miley Cyrus with her recent MTV Video Music Awards performance (which is a popularly trending topic at the moment if you want to know more and somehow haven't already heard about it). But hey, I guess even extreme stupidity can be put down to youth in one's twenties.
So, live it up, but try to live it up at least somewhat wisely. Have fun social interactions, but don't go too far. Wear the clothing and makeup you want to wear, make some mistakes, but again do try to use the common sense that should have developed by now and don't go too far. (It may be harder to look bad while you're a fit and fresh-faced 22 year old but if you look around you'll see that it's definitely still possible.) Stay up all night and party with friends, while you can still recover within a few days. Experience young love and the stupid, desperate emotions of one not yet fully mature. Create a blog, or start a Youtube channel, and put non-future-jeopardizing pictures of yourself up on the internet through social networking if you wish. Go travel and have adventures while you are still youthful and energetic.
Let's be thankful we made it this far, and here's to the next ten years of life!
And as they say, eat, drink, and be merry! |
